Tis the Season of Fall.....

The shelf I have in my dining room is very long with a weathered look. A friend of mine Jeniffer mad it from back home. The girl is talented. She can whip up some really neat things. She paints some sweet signs too !!
I hung some vintage things from it A.linen towel to layering some mirrors to an old little whisk broom which I love. Then you can see the frame with the pitcher in front.Another favorite of mine.

This is a old wire basket from a bike that I picked up at a garage sale.I put some vintage plates in with some doilies that hang from it.I of course had to use my fake leaves for that fall touch.I kinda have to use some artificial things more often being here.I don't mind a little challenge of finding stuff like that to work for.
Since being out here in AZ we don't have the trees like we did in Il. I have to admit the trees back there are beautiful this time of year.
I better go back to farmgirlpaints.blogspot.com I need to go and tell Becky that there are some things that I do miss in the seasons in Il.( If you can go over and say "Hi" to  Becky .Her blog has stories that intrigue you as well as inspire you !)The cold brrr that not so much. The colors that go with each of the seasons .The leaves that fall and blanket the ground.(Here out in the front of our yard some cactus needles, ouch !! he he)Some really good recipes and the food that goes with it.( I'm sure when Bren reads this she will be saying "You cook?") To be be honest not much as I use to.That be be in some of my posts later .The flowers  you see.The fun in going to pumpkin farms and Christmas tree farms.(Here we do have some. It;s just that it is warmer here. The seasonal air back in Il is more fitting to going to places like these). There are even the fabrics and textile that are part of the season as well. The scent of spices that make your home a place to curl up with a warm blanket and a good cup of hot coffee in your hand.(By the way my friend Bren makes wonderful coffee.Working in Dixon at the best book store in town there she makes the best coffee drinks daily).I  will miss some of those things that go with the season.(Maybe Bren will send me some of that banana bread she baked ??)
Becky reminded me some of the things I will miss. Her attitude made me look at the season differently. The past of the seasons in my memories will not be forgotten. Some of my family  and friends lives there still. Visiting there regardless what-ever season it may be is worth it  to see those that I miss.We did have some memorable times.
I  do like it here in our little cottage by the lake .It don't change so much seasonally except for the temp.Least it has cooled down some in the evening time.It will be fun making it seasonal inside and maybe some outside of our home.
Got To Go...I have to go write a comment farmgirlpaints.blogspot.com

The Ledge...

This is a ledge in our dining room that I decorated up.The window view looks out to the side of  home.Which in time I would love to make in into a little court yard. It would make the view more attractive.

Kitchen
This wire basket is in front of my sink in our kitchen.  This little lake cottage does has a few similar features like the house we lived in back in Illinois. This corner sink is one of them.I have plenty of  space to decorate with.Which i really like.I have two windows on each side. One has a great view of the lake.Sometimes you can see the ducks out there.

Kitchen
I put some ironstone( A fav of mine) along with some pretty USA dishes in the wire basket along witha sweet burlap bag I bought at Kane County Flea Market . If you ever have a chance to go to Kane's Flea Market go.My husband and 15yr-old really like going to it .It was just a little over an hour drive for us.We even took my 5yr-old grandson Dylan. We made it fun for him by saying we were looking for treasures.Lots of fun !!

These burlap bags are fun to decorate too with.
I hope everyone had a bright day.

Details....

Fireplace Mantel
Today I finished our fireplace mantel.I hope ?? I say that cause I always seem to think more of how it looks. I need more detail at times. Does anyone else find themselves putting together a setting then your still quite not sure if you like it ?? Then you have to look at it awhile.Or maybe a few more times ??.Then you get another idea then you start all over with what you started with or you add more ?? Or you might not even use what you had ?

You can see in my earlier  post I didn't finish some of  little details. I am about detail. I admit I do have fun thinking up some of the details. What's Halloween without a little mouse creeping around ? The black birds are a touch as well. Dollar Store.Reading pleasure how about setting the scene by adding  some Ann Rice books.

Table in Living Room

I had this pic too ! I had to go back and finish just some little details.Just a little.Fix it up Put some skeleton hands and roaches(not real of course) and make sure I least had a baby mouse on it..I'm sure someone out there understands where I'm coming from ?? Maybe? I really do like adding details.I know Bren. You want me to come back to Il and do your small details in your house. She just wants me to feel that cool air. Then she will try to talk me into moving back. Maybe bribe me with all her goodies that she bakes.Hmmm  I cant right now ,you know that.Didn't you see our moving truck to get here.I  even had to leave most of my holiday decorations in a storage unit back there in Illinois.

Pumpkin in Urn
See while I was just looking at this pic while putting it on my post, I thought how cute it would look if I added some little white lights or maybe some Halloween  lights  in the greens of this. Too much fun !!!
I hope you all find some Fun Finds for  you to do for Halloween....

Getting ready for fall....

Front Door
I'm getting ready for Fall here in Arizona.I made this arrangement for my front door. This helped add some color .Yeah, its different then Il where they have all the trees full of lots of color. You have to use some imagination here.

We got lucky and have these nice double doors that lead you into our family room as you walk into our sweet lake cottage. We had some beautiful double doors at our other home we used to live in back in Illinois.I love these doors !

Happy Fall...

Here is some more pics to share in our living room as you walk into our front door.

Adding some special touches around.....

Closer  shot to see. There's my cute little punched out butterflies from French Larkspur. They are scattered on my vintage mirror. They are sooo sweet !!

Starting to add some Fall on our fireplace. We have a cozy fireplace in our lake cottage.I'm really thinking we might not use this fireplace as much as we did at our other home.It don't get as cold here as it did when we were back in Illinois. Snow here ?? I don't think so.Bren my very good friend from Illinois.I did a post about my Bren. If she is reading this she will be saying,"No snow ?? I love it when it has that crisp cold chill in the air !!". Bren likes snow too.Me ? I like a little snow.Little only. This year will be different. I'm sure Bren will call me and send me pics to remind me of what I'm missing.

Well back to decorating. I better go look in the kitchen my husband is making a big pot of chili. He loves to cook and he makes a really BIG MESS !

Inspiring people

Ok, I know its been months since i put a post on.Alot for me and my family has happened as well in those past months.Yeah, Its true too that i spend more time looking at everyone else that has such inspiring blogs that I don't take the time to do my own.Even though i keep telling myself over and over i should.Should?? I gonna try.
I do want to share this post about this beautiful magazine.Which i'm sure most of you do know about it.It is well worth getting. For me one of the best parts of ordering before it comes I am excited to get it in the mail.  I really do look forward to getting it.When I  got this issue (which was a couple of weeks ago) it was wrapped in beautiful tissue paper,i could smell lavender. It was tied with a jute string around it with a sprig of lavender and a french page and a sweet weathered type of french postcard tucked in the string.Loved it !!! I didn't even want to unwrap it it was so beautifully wrapped. For a sweet touch she had little butterflies punched out of a page. This was the second time I ordered from Tracey. Her blog is the 'French Larkspur". See,that's why sometimes i don't do my own post. It's blogs like hers that keeps me glued to the computer.
Go to Tracey's blog . You will see why I don't take enough time to do my own.  I look forward to such inspiring ideas and such wonderful stories and her photography is soo breathless. Funny thing i did see Tracey at  Na da Farm show they had.Which was soo much fun,Anyway i seen her there ,i was just too shy to say anything.Silly ,huh ??  Now my chances will be slim to meet her and say "hi", in person.I lived in Dixon,Il now I live in AZ. Way far. We moved out here in July. I can visit her through her blog. That's one of the good parts of having a computer. You can be just as close.
Below you will see that i added the French papers to my mirror. It adds a special touch to my decorating and at the same time it reminds me of Tracey's thoughtfulness that she take time to add to my orders. The punched out butterflies i used too.I laid them on top of a
